In the initial proposal for Four Lakes of Chesapeake, the development team proposed to restore and redesign the back 9 of the existing 18-hole course into a reversible 9-hole golf course. This initial plan also included a driving range and 18-hole putting course.
Recently, this plan underwent significant revision. Based on feedback and concerns received during summer 2022 regarding the management and viability of the golf course, the development team revised the plan to eliminate the reversible golf course, driving range and putting course. In place of these eliminated features, the updated draft plan proposes to:
Add an indoor virtual golf experience center, including an indoor driving range and putting area
Add an outdoor putting area
Place the back 9 holes into a conservation easement and reforest the ~100 acre property.
The nearly 100 acres of reforested property would be private, with access restricted to homeowners of Eagle Pointe and the proposed Four Lakes of Chesapeake. This reforestation would:
Ensure preservation of natural space while enhancing privacy for Four Lakes of Chesapeake and Eagle Pointe homeowners.
Complement existing plans for buffers and provide additional private walking trails.
Reduce public traffic to the development.
This latest draft plan is not final, and the development team intends to make adjustments based on additional public feedback. The latest draft is an effort to strike a better balance of golfing activities while enhancing the natural spaces, buffers and landscaping that would keep the community quiet, private and complementary to Eagle Pointe.
